Trump says killings in Iran are stopping, no executions are planned for anti-Khamenei protesters, and warns Tehran of strong action if violence continues.
US President Donald Trump declared that he has received assurances that there will be “no more killing in Iran” and that demonstrators connected to the anti-Khamenei protests “will not be executed.”
“We were told that the killing in Iran is stopping... and there are no plans for executions — an execution or executions,” Trump stated in an interview with reporters at the White House. That’s what good authority has told me. We will learn about it.
Trump cautions against carrying out executions
Additionally, Trump has cautioned the Iranian authorities from carrying out executions. He promised “very strong action” if Iran started hanging demonstrators in a Tuesday interview with CBS News. Trump stated, “If they hang them, you’re going to see some things,” but he did not elaborate.
Trump’s remarks coincided with rumors that Iran was getting ready to kill Erfan Soltani, a 26-year-old man, on Wednesday for taking part in the demonstrations. This would be one of the first executions connected to the turmoil. But since then, the punishment has been delayed.

Iranian authorities have accused demonstrators of being terrorists, rioters, mohareb (enemies of God), and foreign-backed agitators, all of which carry the death penalty. According to authorities, special branches of the Revolutionary Courts will treat these cases swiftly and severely.
On the way: Trump
Trump called the demonstrators “patriots” on Tuesday and assured them that assistance will be arriving. The Iranian Patriots should continue to demonstrate and seize control of their institutions, he stated in a post on his social media channel, Truth Social. Assistance is on its way.
He did not, however, go into detail about the specifics of such assistance.
Trump ordered Iranians to “save the names of the killers and the abusers… because they’ll pay a very big price” and canceled any talks with Iranian officials until the “senseless killing” of protestors ceased, according to Reuters.

Anti-Khamenei demonstrations
On December 28, 2025, amid deteriorating economic conditions, the most recent round of demonstrations against the regime headed by Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei began.
Security forces allegedly used military weaponry against protesters, including firing at close range at the head and upper torso, as the demonstrations quickly descended into violence. There have apparently been more than 2,500 demonstrators slain.
