Microsoft has introduced the Surface Laptop Ultra, positioning it as the most powerful Surface laptop ever developed. Designed in collaboration with Nvidia, the device targets creators, developers, AI researchers and professionals handling intensive computing tasks.

The Surface Laptop Ultra represents a major leap in performance-focused laptop design, combining advanced graphics capabilities with next-generation AI computing power.

15-inch Mini-LED Display with Extreme Brightness

The Surface Laptop Ultra features a 15-inch PixelSense Ultra mini-LED touchscreen display with up to 2,000 nits peak HDR brightness, making it the brightest display ever on a Surface device. With 262ppi pixel density, the screen is designed for precise colour accuracy and high-end creative workflows.

Microsoft highlights that the Surface Ultra delivers exceptional visual performance for designers, video editors and professionals requiring accurate image rendering.

Nvidia Blackwell GPU and Massive AI Performance

At the core of the Surface Ultra is Nvidia’s latest Blackwell RTX GPU architecture. This marks the first Surface device to support full CUDA capabilities, enabling advanced GPU acceleration for demanding applications.

The Surface Laptop Ultra is capable of delivering up to 1 petaflop of AI computing performance and supports local AI models with up to 120 billion parameters, making it a powerful platform for AI development and machine learning workloads.

Up to 128GB Unified Memory and Smart Resource Management

The Surface Laptop Ultra can be configured with up to 128GB of unified memory. The system intelligently allocates resources between CPU and GPU depending on workload demands.

Microsoft has also optimised the device for Nvidia RTX Spark workloads and upcoming Windows AI features, positioning the Surface Laptop Ultra as a future-ready AI computing machine.

Advanced RTX Spark Architecture and Thermal System

The Nvidia RTX Spark platform powering the Surface Laptop Ultra includes 6,144 CUDA cores, fifth-generation Tensor cores and a 20-core Nvidia Grace CPU. This combination is designed to handle heavy AI, rendering and graphics tasks efficiently.

To maintain performance, the Surface Laptop Ultra includes an upgraded thermal system offering up to 2.5 times more capacity than previous Surface models, ensuring stable operation under high workloads.

Premium Design, Connectivity and Features

The Surface Laptop Ultra includes multiple connectivity options such as HDMI, USB Type-C, USB Type-A, SD card slot and a 3.5mm audio jack. It also features Microsoft’s largest haptic touchpad and supports Windows Hello facial recognition.

The device is also designed with repairability in mind, offering replaceable internal components and improved accessibility for maintenance.

Availability and Final Details

The Surface Laptop Ultra will be available later this year in Platinum and Nightfall colour variants. Pricing and regional availability details have not yet been announced.
