Uttarakhand Govt under CM Pushkar Singh Dhami demolishes illegal religious structures in Dehradun to reclaim government land and prevent encroachments.
Dehradun: The Uttarakhand govt has stepped up its efforts to combat unlawful religious organizations in response to directives from Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami.
Bulldozer activity has increased in Uttarakhand once more as a result of a specific push to destroy unlawful religious structures (mazars, tombs, and shrines) built on government land in Dehradun city and the surrounding districts.
An illegal temple outside the Hemwati Nandan Bahuguna (HNB) Complex, which is adjacent to Dehradun’s Clock Tower, was razed by the administration late on Wednesday night. To avoid any problems with law and order, there was a significant police presence.
Teams from the municipal corporation, the district administration, and the Mussoorie Dehradun Development Authority (MDDA) worked together to dismantle the unlawful construction during the late-night operation. They also cleared the area of trash and tin shelters.

During the demolition effort, senior authorities were in attendance, including City Magistrate Pratyush Singh, Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Har Giri, and City SP Pramod Kumar.
As directed by DM Savin Bansal, a survey of the unlawful construction was initially carried out, according to City Magistrate Pratyush Singh. The MDDA had sent out a notification requesting papers pertaining to construction and property ownership. He went on to say that throughout the demolition, no artifacts or religious relics were discovered at the location.
CM Dhami made it clear earlier that encroachments on government land should be removed as soon as possible at a meeting with the Dehradun district administration. In and around Dehradun, there are reportedly more than 20 illegal shrines on government property.

A statewide drive to remove unauthorized encroachments on government land has been started by the Dhami government. Approximately 11,000 acres of government land have been cleared of unauthorized use thus far, and 573 illegal shrines have been demolished.
A number of mosques and shrines have purportedly been encroached upon government property in recent years; some of these buildings have even been registered with the Waqf Board.
