Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami encourages winter tourism in Kedarkantha, Harsil, Auli, Munsiyari, and Sankri, highlighting cultural preservation and job creation for locals.

Dehradun: Pushkar Singh Dhami, the chief minister of Uttarakhand, urged the populace  to turn winter travel into a widespread movement, describing it as a solid basis for an independent Uttarakhand.

According to the chief minister, Narendra Modi’s appeal for tourism is to blame for the extraordinary interest in winter travel that is being shown in places like Kedarkantha, Harsil, Auli, Munsiyari, and Sankri.

He was giving a speech during the opening of the Winter Festival in Sankri, a quickly developing tourist area in the Uttarkashi district.

“At the local level, this is generating new job prospects. Through homestays, hotels, trekking guides, and other tourism-related activities, young people are becoming self-sufficient, and migration from these regions has also declined,” he said.

According to him, folk artists, handicrafts, traditional foods, and regional goods are finding a new market thanks to winter tourism.

According to Dhami, Sankri is a living museum of Uttarakhand’s folk culture rather than merely a village. “The traditional architecture, folk culture, and simple Pahari lifestyle here reflect the unique identity of Uttarakhand.”

With the Uniform Civil Code, anti-copying legislation, stringent land laws, and a “zero tolerance” policy towards corruption, Uttarakhand is claiming its place among the nation’s top states, according to Dhami, who also stated that his government is bolstering cultural values, law and order, and transparency in addition to development.

Dhami had already had a traditional greeting and been dressed in traditional woolen clothing when he arrived at the Winter Festival.

After that, he led a party of tourists to Kedarkantha.
