Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami releases Rs 4.12 lakh to Angel Chakma’s family after fatal Dehradun attack; suspects in custody.
Dehradun: In accordance with Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami orders, Tarun Prasad Chakma, the father of Tripura student Angel Chakma, who was viciously attacked in Dehradun and subsequently passed away from his wounds at a hospital, received immediate financial support on Monday, according to officials.
The first installment of Rs 4,12,500 has been released, according to a Chief Minister’s Office (CMO) official, and the victim’s family has already received the check.
According to the official, the funding has been approved under the Protection of Civil Rights Act of 1955 and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act of 1989.
The 24-year-old son of a Border Security Force (BSF) constable and final-year MBA student at an Uttarakhand university passed away from his wounds on December 26 at a Dehradun hospital, according to officials and family members.
The student, a member of the Chakma ethnic community, was severely injured on December 9 when he was attacked by a gang of criminals who allegedly yelled racial epithets.

According to the CMO official, the file was sent through the Senior Superintendent of Police, Dehradun, to the District Social Welfare Officer, Dehradun, for prompt approval of relief to the victim’s family, per Chief Minister Dhami’s directives.
The district-level committee expedited the approval process and approved the assistance based on the joint inquiry report filed by the Deputy Superintendent of Police and the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Vikasnagar. The first installment’s check was then sent to Tarun Prasad Chakma, Angel Chakma’s father.
In the meantime, Chief Minister Dhami called Tarun Prasad Chakma on Monday and conveyed his profound sadness at Angel Chakma’s death.
Five of the accused have already been taken into custody, the Chief Minister told him, and attempts are underway to capture the other one, for whom a prize has been offered.

Dhami said he was deeply grieved by the occurrence and completely understood the family’s grief, and he promised to provide the bereaved family with all the support necessary. He added that the Uttarakhand government will make sure that anybody found guilty faced severe penalties.
Manik Saha, the chief minister of Tripura, discussed the issue with his colleague from Uttarakhand on Saturday. Dhami told Saha that additional investigation is underway and that five of the suspects have been taken into custody and placed under judicial remand.
