Over 170 sheep die near Lucknow’s Rashtriya Prerna Sthal; UP CM Yogi Adityanath orders investigation and Rs 10,000 compensation per sheep.
Police are sending samples for testing to identify the cause of death as they investigate whether sickness, poisoning, or negligence may have contributed to the inexplicable deaths of over 170 sheep near Lucknow’s Rashtriya Prerna Sthal.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has requested an investigation after learning about the sheep’s demise.
Charu Khare, the founder of Aasra The Helping Hands Trust (NGO), claimed in an application filed with the Madiaon police station that 170 sheep had unexpectedly perished in the vicinity of the Rashtriya Prerna Sthal a few days after an event that was organized there.
On the surface, it is unclear if these sheep perished from eating trash or if they were poisoned by an unidentified individual.
She demanded a comprehensive investigation, stating that the post-mortem examination of the deceased sheep was necessary to determine the cause of the sheep’s unexplained death.

“Strict action should be taken against the accused if any laxity is discovered or if poisoning is confirmed. “Our organization will provide every assistance possible in the investigation,” Khare stated.
She added that the situation is “very serious” and “sensitive,” and that it is impossible to rule out the potential of animal abuse and negligence.
Samples have been sent for post-mortem analysis, Madiaon SHO Shivanand Mishra said PTI.
According to a statement from the UP government, Adityanath has requested an investigation into the sheep’s death.
According to the statement, a compensation of Rs 10,000 per sheep has also been announced.
