Dhami Honors 41 Divyang Achievers on World Divyangjan Day; New Welfare Centres Announced

CM Dhami honored 41 Divyang achievers on World Divyangjan Day and launched major welfare projects, including the PM Divyasha Center and new pension schemes.

The Social Welfare Department hosted a State Level Skill Excellence Award Distribution Ceremony at the Haldwani MBPG College Auditorium in honor of World Divyangjan Day. 41 Divyangjan participants received Rs 8000 in prizes, medals, citations, and honorifics from Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami. Everyone was personally met by the Chief Minister, who raised spirits. Additionally, the Chief Minister laid the foundation stone for the Prime Minister Divyasha Center in Nainital (ALIMCO) and the Multipurpose Finance and Development Corporation Limited, a multipurpose office facility of the Social Welfare IT Cell that would be constructed in Dehradun at a cost of Rs 905.13 lakh.

According to the Chief Minister, this day is more than simply a formal occasion; it is an opportunity to honor the remarkable individuals who have guided society by transforming obstacles into opportunities and problems into sources of inspiration. According to him, disabilities can arise in the body but not in dreams. Our Divyang brothers and sisters are boosting the nation’s pride in many spheres.

He gave motivational examples, such as World Para Archery Champion Sheetal Devi without hands, English Channel crosser Satyendra Singh Lohia, and India’s first Paralympic gold medallist, Muralikant Petkar. The recent triumph of the Indian Divyang women’s cricket team in the T20 Blind Women’s World Cup-2025 in Colombo was also praised by the Chief Minister.

According to the Chief Minister, the state and national governments are now dedicated to giving the Divyangjan equal rights and respect.

Key Plans Described by the Chief Minister

According to the Chief Minister, Divyangjan who are economically disadvantaged will receive a monthly pension of Rs. 1500, parents of disabled children will receive a monthly maintenance grant of Rs. 700, Divyangjan will receive a monthly pension of Rs. 1200 under the Tilu Rauteli Special Divyang Pension Yojana and Dwarf Pension Scheme, Divyangjan will receive a scholarship, receive a Rs. 7000 grant for artificial limbs, receive a Rs. 50,000 incentive for marrying Divyang students, and be eligible for civil service.

In addition, a rehabilitation facility for those with mental disabilities has been built in Udham Singh Nagar, and plans have been made for an online hearing at the Dehradun office of Commissioner Divyangjan. In Dehradun, the state’s first “Prime Minister Divyansha Kendra” was also opened. A Divyang survey, which will precisely determine the true number and needs of the Divyangjan, has also been initiated for the first time since the state’s creation.
