CM Yogi Adityanath orders strict action against codeine cough syrup smuggling in UP; zero tolerance policy, large-scale arrests reported.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, has taken a severe stance against the unlawful smuggling of cough syrup containing codeine. He stated that the administration has taken strict action after significant evidence of illicit trafficking with the Samajwadi Party surfaced.
Large-scale arrests in this instance have also been made, he said. The Chief Minister told reporters outside the Assembly building on Friday that initial inquiries had shown that the people detained had ties to the Samajwadi Party.
He did clarify, though, that the final judgment would not be made until the investigation was over.
“Only after the investigation is finished will something be said about this,” Yogi declared. Everything will become evident once the investigation is over. He claimed that this is nothing new, making fun of the Samajwadi Party. According to the Chief Minister, all of the criminals had ties to the Samajwadi Party. The Samajwadi Party consistently commits the same error. They attempt to clean the mirror despite the blood on their face.

Additionally, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath reaffirmed that no one found guilty will be spared and that the state government is pursuing a “zero tolerance” policy against drugs and unlawful trafficking. Notably, Akhilesh Yadav, the national president of the Samajwadi Party (SP), had accused the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of shielding people engaged in the illicit distribution of cough syrup containing codeine, valued at crores of rupees, just a day earlier.
Speaking at a news conference at the party headquarters following a meeting of SP MLAs, Akhilesh Yadav stated that a number of significant topics to be brought up in the next Assembly session were discussed, with the purported codeine and cough syrup racket being a key concern.
