UP CM Yogi Adityanath inaugurates UP Health Tech Conclave, highlights 81 medical colleges, AIIMS, and 5.5 crore Golden Cards under PM-JAY.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday said that the state is the largest consumer market in the healthcare sector while inaugurating the three-day UP Health Tech Conclave.

Speaking at the event, Adityanath highlighted that with a population of 250 million, Uttar Pradesh not only caters to its own healthcare needs but also supports neighbouring states and even Nepal.

He pointed out that the healthcare sector has undergone significant transformation since the formation of the Modi-led Central government in 2014 and the BJP government in Uttar Pradesh in 2017. “Before 2017, the state had only 40 medical colleges, both government and private. Today, there are 81 fully functional medical colleges, two AIIMS, and over 100 government-run district hospitals,” he said.

The CM also noted the extensive network of primary health centres (PHCs), community health centres (CHCs), and wellness centres that provide healthcare services to remote areas.

Referring to the Prime Minister Ayushman Bharat Yojana (PM-JAY), he stated that healthcare access has become easier over the last 11 years. In Uttar Pradesh alone, five and a half crore Golden Cards have been issued under the scheme, providing health coverage of Rs 5 lakh per year, while those not covered are provided assistance directly at the Chief Minister’s level.

Adityanath added that these reforms have helped reduce the mortality rate and align institutional deliveries with national standards.

The event was also attended by Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak.
