“Healthcare in Punjab is no longer a privilege, it’s a right delivered free at the doorstep of the common citizen
In a Major boost to public healthcare, the Punjab government under chief minister Bhagwant Singh Mann has strengthened its Aam aadmi clinic initiative offering 40 types of medical tests absolutely free of cost. The move underscores the government’s commitment to making quality healthcare affordable and accessible to all citizens.
The clinics are a part of broader healthcare sector reforms implemented by Punjab Health systems Corporation, focusing on primary care and preventive health. The initiative aligns with global health goals and reflects an ongoing effort to enhance public health infrastructure across the state.
Free diagnostics in government healthcare facilities are not new to Punjab. As early as 2016, the state had made around 50 medical tests free for the public. However, under the new Aam Aadmi Clinics initiative, these services have not only been revived but expanded and better organized. The clinics are now fully functional, more accessible, and equipped with essential facilities and trained staff. This ensures that even people in remote areas can receive timely check-ups, diagnoses, and basic treatments without any financial burden. The upgraded model represents a structured, community-focused approach that prioritizes preventive care and early detection—crucial factors in improving overall health outcomes in a resource-constrained state.
