Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann participated in the Shukrana Yatra in Sangrur, where he received a warm welcome from devotees in Phagguwala. Addressing the gathering, he described the event as a spiritual and non-political expression of gratitude, while also highlighting his government’s welfare initiatives.

Shukrana Yatra in Sangrur draws large participation

During the Shukrana Yatra in Sangrur, Bhagwant Mann expressed heartfelt gratitude to devotees who visited despite extreme heat conditions. He said he does not see himself only as a Chief Minister but as a “brother” to the people, strengthening emotional connect with the participants.

The Shukrana Yatra in Sangrur was described by the Chief Minister as a religious journey dedicated to thanking the Almighty rather than a political rally.

Law on sacrilege and legal backing

At the Shukrana Yatra , Mann referred to the strict law enacted against sacrilege-related offences. He stated that the law has received approval from the High Court, strengthening its legal standing and dismissing objections raised by opponents.

Speaking at the Shukrana Yatra  the Chief Minister criticized earlier governments for allegedly using religion for political gains without taking strong action on sensitive issues like sacrilege. He said his administration has taken decisive steps that were previously avoided.

During the Shukrana Yatra, Mann also highlighted welfare schemes such as the Matri-Putri Samman Yojana, aimed at empowering women in Punjab. He said social welfare and gender empowerment remain top priorities of his government.
