Punjab Health Minister Balbir Singh has strongly reacted to the ongoing ED raids in Punjab, accusing the BJP-led central government of using investigative agencies for political purposes against the state’s leadership.
ED raids in Punjab spark fresh political controversy
Referring to the recent developments, Balbir Singh said the ED raids in Punjab appear to be part of a repeated pattern targeting Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and senior Aam Aadmi Party leaders. He alleged that earlier actions were taken at the Chief Minister’s residence, followed by searches linked to party leaders Aman Arora and now minister Sanjeev Arora.
The ED raids in Punjab have triggered strong political reactions, with state leaders calling them politically motivated.
Allegations of misuse of central agencies
Balbir Singh claimed that the manner in which the ED raids in Punjab are being conducted raises serious questions. He said the deployment of large teams and multiple vehicles during raids creates unnecessary fear among the public and suggests a political message rather than a purely investigative purpose.

According to him, the ED raids in Punjab are being misused as a tool to pressure opposition-ruled states.
Strong political attack on BJP
In a sharp statement, Balbir Singh said that Punjab is witnessing another “surgical strike” by the BJP in the form of ED actions. He alleged that the ED raids in Punjab reflect “dirty politics” and an attempt to intimidate elected representatives.

He further stated that ED operations in the state have made people feel as though the agency is being used for election-related pressure, not impartial enforcement.
Message of resistance from Punjab leaders
Reaffirming their position, Punjab leaders said that Punjabis are not afraid and will not bow down to pressure. They emphasized that the people of Punjab stand united like a “rock” in defense of their rights.
The ongoing ED raids in Punjab were described as an attempt to weaken the state’s leadership, but they insisted that such tactics will not succeed.
The issue of ED raids in Punjab continues to deepen political tensions between the state government and the Centre. With repeated allegations of misuse of central agencies, the controversy remains a major point of debate in Punjab politics.
