Punjab Police Conducts 2,700+ Raids on Day 2 of Operation Prahaar-2

Under ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign, over 12,000 personnel target wanted criminals and continue anti-drug drive

Chandigarh: Punjab Police, as part of the ongoing ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign aimed at making the state gangster-free under directives of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, carried out 2,706 raids on Tuesday targeting locations linked to wanted criminals, marking the second day of Operation Prahaar-2.

The operation, launched by Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav on Sunday, is a 72-hour intensive crackdown on wanted offenders. Senior officers from Punjab Police Headquarters personally visited various districts to oversee and coordinate the drive.

Special DGP Law and Order Arpit Shukla said that more than 2,000 police teams, comprising approximately 12,000 personnel, participated in raids across Punjab. On Day 2 alone, 2,596 individuals were rounded up, including 1,634 arrests, 53 proclaimed offenders, and 534 preventive detentions. Additionally, 1,015 individuals were verified and released after questioning.

Punjab Police Anti-Drug Drive Continues on Day 346 of ‘Yudh Nashian Virudh’

Punjab Police also continued its anti-drug campaign “Yudh Nashian Virudh” on its 346th day. On Tuesday, 215 drug smugglers were arrested, with 2.7 kg of heroin, 863 intoxicant tablets/capsules, and Rs 12,040 in drug money seized. Since the launch of the campaign, a total of 48,866 drug smugglers have been apprehended.

As part of the de-addiction and rehabilitation efforts, 27 individuals were persuaded to undergo treatment on Tuesday, further strengthening Punjab Police’s dual approach of enforcement and rehabilitation.
