Punjab : As the Punjab Government’s decisive ‘Gangstran Te Vaar’ campaign completed two weeks, the Punjab Police have arrested 4,233 persons, including gangsters and their associates, after conducting 14,382 raids across the state since the launch of the operation.
The campaign, aimed at making Punjab a gangster-free state, was launched on January 20, 2026, on the directions of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann and is being led by Director General of Punjab Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav. Police teams from all districts, in coordination with the Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF), have been carrying out raids at identified and mapped locations linked to gangster networks.
Punjab Police : Weapons Recovered, Proclaimed Offenders Nabbed
As part of the operation, intensive naka checking has been conducted across the state under the supervision of Inspectors and Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs). Vehicles and suspicious individuals have been thoroughly checked at multiple locations.

Special DGP (Law and Order) Arpit Shukla, while interacting with the media after inspecting a naka at Godrej Chowk in Mohali, said that police teams have recovered 116 weapons, 262 live cartridges, and 23 magazines from the arrested individuals.
He further stated that preventive action has been initiated against 2,311 persons, while 4,008 individuals were verified and released after questioning. Over the last 14 days, police have also arrested 283 proclaimed offenders. On the 14th day of the campaign alone, police teams apprehended 172 persons during 613 raids, took preventive action against 159 individuals, and arrested nine proclaimed offenders.
The Punjab Police have appealed to the public to support the campaign by anonymously sharing information related to wanted criminals and gangsters through the Anti-Gangster Helpline number 93946-93946.

Meanwhile, Punjab Police have continued their parallel anti-drug drive for the 338th consecutive day. On Monday, 81 drug smugglers were arrested, and police recovered 1.3 kg of heroin, 1,053 intoxicant tablets and capsules, and ₹1.23 lakh in drug money. With this, the total number of drug smugglers arrested has reached 47,498 in 338 days.
As part of the de-addiction initiative, Punjab Police also persuaded 11 individuals to undergo de-addiction and rehabilitation treatment on the day.
