Safety Remains Top Priority
Punjab Health Minister Dr. Balbir Singh reassured residents that their safety remains the top priority of the Bhagwant Mann-led government. During his personal assessment of the riverbanks, he confirmed that the water level in the river is currently less than four feet, posing no immediate danger.
Dr. Singh emphasized that the administration had already taken preventive steps to reinforce vulnerable embankments, including those at Phauli, to ensure public safety. “Your safety is the priority of the Mann government. We are monitoring the situation closely and will act promptly to prevent any risk,” he said.
Embankments Strengthened as Precaution
Flood-prone regions in Punjab often face challenges during the monsoon. However, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s leadership, preventive infrastructure has been reinforced in advance.
Dr. Singh highlighted that all critical embankments have been inspected and fortified. This includes vulnerable spots identified in previous flood seasons. The proactive approach, he noted, ensures that Punjab is better prepared this year to manage rising river levels.
Moreover, he stressed that local authorities and the disaster response teams are working in coordination to safeguard communities along riverbanks.

To strengthen communication and build confidence among residents, Dr. Singh announced the availability of a 24-hour operational helpline. Citizens facing emergencies can contact 0175-2350550 or 2358550 for assistance.
The helpline will remain active throughout the monsoon to ensure timely response to public needs. The government urged citizens to stay informed, follow safety advisories, and contact the helpline if required.
“People must not panic. We are fully equipped to handle any situation. Our teams are alert, and immediate help is just a call away,” Dr. Singh added.
Relief Fund and Ongoing Support
The Punjab government has also highlighted the Punjab CM Relief Fund as a key mechanism to support flood preparedness and recovery. Funds from this initiative are being directed towards strengthening embankments, providing relief materials, and setting up emergency shelters in sensitive areas.
In addition, health and sanitation teams are on standby to prevent waterborne diseases, which often pose challenges during flood conditions. Medical camps will be deployed in case of rising water levels to ensure timely care for affected families.

Dr. Singh appealed to the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with local administration. He urged citizens living near rivers and low-lying areas to strictly follow safety advisories.
