Punjab govt enables online HSRP application via SIAM portal, with 64,24,336 vehicles fitted, removing RTO visits and middlemen.

The Punjab govt has made it possible for residents of the state to secure High Security Registration Plates (HSRP) on vehicles online. Thus far, 64,24,336 automobiles throughout the state have had HSRP fitted as part of this effort.

While providing this information, Punjab Transport Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar stated that M/s Agros Impex India Private Limited, whose tender ended on January 8, 2026, was using an online procedure to install HSRP on vehicles registered in the state. The Punjab government acted quickly to alleviate the inconvenience for the public and, while maintaining the same online procedure, gave the task to the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) to guarantee continuous public comfort.

According to the Cabinet Minister, car owners can now apply online via the SIAM/High Security Registration Plate portal, http://www.siam.in, to have HSRP installed on their vehicles. He went on to say that car owners can apply for HSRP from the comfort of their own homes because the entire procedure is done online.

The state government’s move, according to the transport minister, will lessen harassment of car owners and relieve them of the need to visit RTO offices frequently. He went on to say that as a result of the Punjab government’s action, citizens won’t need to contact any middlemen or agents in order to get HSRP installed.

According to Bhullar, 64,24,336 automobiles around the state have had HSRP fitted thus far. In order to prevent challans and other penalties, he urged the remaining car owners to utilize the recommended procedure and make sure that HSRP is installed on their vehicles as soon as possible.

“The Punjab Government has set a goal to bring transparency in every process, eliminate public harassment, and curb agents and corruption in the interest of the general public,” the transport minister added. He continued by saying that the installation of HSRP in accordance with the prescribed method has become required in accordance with the directives of the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, Government of India, as well as the requirements of the Motor Vehicles Act and rules adopted thereunder.
