Punjab govt prepares Ghora Mandi at Sri Muktsar Sahib this Maghi, featuring premium horses, livestock, and safety measures for animals.

The Punjab government is preparing to hold the “Ghora Mandi,” a magnificent traditional cattle and horse market, at Sri Muktsar Sahib on the occasion of Maghi in an important effort to maintain and advance cultural traditions and the livestock sector. According to Gurmeet Singh Khudian, Minister of Animal Husbandry, Dairy Development and Fisheries, Punjab, this colorful festival will highlight Punjab’s rich rural tradition and include premium horse breeds and other livestock.

Khudian shared the specifics of the Animal Husbandry department’s plans, stating that a vast 70-acre location in the Industrial Focal Point, Lambi Dhab, Sri Muktsar Sahib, has been chosen for this spectacular event. An enormous number of breeders, merchants, and animal lovers from all around the area are anticipated to attend the fair.

In honor of Punjab’s rich history, the Ghora Mandi will turn the field into a vibrant display of equestrian beauty. In addition to seeing the best animal husbandry techniques to honor a long-standing agrarian heritage, the fair will showcase valuable horse breeds like Marwari and Nukra, among others, as well as uncommon cattle species and other livestock, he continued.

S. Gurmeet Singh Khudian described the department’s aggressive efforts to ensure the fair was a huge success, stating that the Punjab government, led by Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh, is dedicated to the safety and well-being of livestock, which is the foundation of the rural economy.

“There is more to the Ghora Mandi than merely a bazaar. It is a component of who we are. We have taken extensive preparations to guarantee the health of every animal present,” Khudian said, adding that a special temporary veterinary dispensary has been established at the carnival. A 40-person special team has been assembled and sent to the location under the direction of Dr. Gurdit Singh, the Deputy Director of Animal Husbandry at Sri Muktsar Sahib. According to him, this team would offer livestock care facilities around-the-clock and uphold stringent surveillance to stop the spread of any animal illness.

Emphasizing how well-liked and excited animal lovers are about the “Ghora Mandi,” Numerous livestock producers have already arrived with their animals, indicating an eager response, according to Khudian. “This renowned market is expected to see thousands of animals, which is a true testament to Punjab’s thriving livestock sector,” he continued.

Additionally, the minister of animal husbandry advised livestock owners to bring only healthy animals to the fair. “Our livestock’s health is of the utmost importance. He urged livestock farmers to seek advice from their local veterinary clinic before departing if they observe any signs of disease in their animals.
