Chandigarh: The Punjab government has announced a significant initiative aimed at the rehabilitation and future employment of Agniveer personnel returning to civilian life after completing their service tenure.

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has described the initiative as a commendable step toward securing the future of young defence personnel and ensuring their smooth transition into government services.

As part of the plan, the state government has constituted a dedicated committee to design a comprehensive reservation policy for Agniveers across multiple government departments.

Reservation in Key Government Departments

According to the announcement shared on the Chief Minister’s official X (formerly Twitter) account, Agniveers will be provided reservation opportunities in several key departments, including:

  • Punjab Police
  • Fire and Emergency Services
  • Jail Department
  • Punjab Ex-Servicemen Corporation

The policy aims to ensure meaningful employment opportunities for trained youth who have served in the armed forces under the Agniveer scheme, helping them reintegrate into society with stable careers.

Focus on Youth Rehabilitation and Employment

The state government emphasized that the initiative is designed to recognize the discipline, training, and experience gained by Agniveers during their military service. Officials believe this will not only strengthen manpower in critical state departments but also provide secure livelihood options for returning personnel.
