Punjab AGTF and Hoshiarpur Police arrested Krishan Gopal and his son for the targeted jewelry store shooting on October 18, seizing a handgun and ammo.

Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) Punjab, in a joint operation with Hoshiarpur Police, arrested Krishan Gopal, a resident of Village Baincha in Hoshiarpur, and his son Keshav in connection with the targeted shooting at a jewelry store in Hoshiarpur , according to Director General of Police (DGP) Punjab Gaurav Yadav. This is a significant development in the ongoing effort to make Punjab a safe and secure state in accordance with Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann’s directives.

In addition to confiscating their motorcycle as they were riding it, the police teams found a.32 caliber handgun and live ammunition in their hands.

The apprehended pair were involved in a targeted shooting at Ganpati Jewellers in Hoshiarpur on October 18, 2025, when two attackers on motorcycles opened fire on the establishment, according to DGP Gaurav Yadav. The shop owner claimed that after the attack, he received a threatening call from an unidentified international number seeking extortion of ₹20 lakh.

At Police Station Mahilpur in Hoshiarpur, a case FIR no. 170 was filed in accordance with sections 336, 324(4), and 3(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and section 25 of the Arms Act.

According to the DGP, more research is being done to determine forward and backward links in this instance.

Following the attack at the jewelry store, police teams from AGTF and Hoshiarpur district police, led by DIG AGTF Sandeep Goel and SSP Hoshiarpur Sandeep Malik, conducted joint human and technical investigations and successfully identified the suspects, according to Additional Director General of Police (ADGP) AGTF Promod Ban, who shared operational details.

Teams from AGTF Punjab and Hoshiarpur Police moved quickly to apprehend Krishan Gopal and Keshav, the suspects, near Mehdoodpur hamlet in Hoshiarpur. They tried to flee by firing randomly at the police party, but were defeated after a short gunfight. The police teams were headed by Incharge AGTF Chander Mohan, Incharge CIA Hoshiarpur Gurpreet Singh, and SP (Investigation) Parminder Singh.

In light of this, Police Station Mahilpur in Hoshiarpur has filed a new case, FIR no. 172, in accordance with sections 109, 221, 132, and 3(5) of the BNS and section 25 of the Arms Act.
