₹563 Crore Malerkotla Medical College to Train 100 MBBS Students
As part of the initiative, the Malerkotla Medical College will be developed at a cost of ₹563 crore on 38.5 acres of land. The institution will offer 100 MBBS seats annually, significantly boosting medical education opportunities in the region.
Bhagwant Singh Mann stated that around 25 acres of defence land has already been transferred, and the tender for the project has been issued. The Malerkotla Medical College is expected to play a crucial role in strengthening healthcare services.
Nursing College and 200-Bed Hospital to Be Built
Alongside the Malerkotla Medical College, the state government will also construct a nursing college and a 200-bed hospital. These facilities are mandatory components of medical college infrastructure and will ensure comprehensive healthcare delivery.

This integrated setup will help improve patient care and provide training opportunities for healthcare professionals in the region.
150-Bed Hospital to Benefit Nearby Regions
The Chief Minister also announced the construction of a 150-bed hospital on 8.5 acres to serve residents of the Khanna–Ludhiana belt. Currently, there is a lack of such healthcare facilities in this area.
The addition of these hospitals along with the Malerkotla Medical College will significantly enhance access to quality medical services.
Push for Cashless Healthcare Scheme
During the event, Bhagwant Singh Mann urged citizens to enrol in the Mukh Mantri Sehat Yojna, which offers cashless treatment up to ₹10 lakh per family.
He highlighted that both government and private hospitals are part of the scheme, ensuring wider access to healthcare services alongside developments like the Malerkotla Medical College.
Focus on Development and Communal Harmony
The Chief Minister reiterated that Punjab has always been a land of peace, unity, and harmony. He assured that the government will continue to work towards strengthening public infrastructure, education, and healthcare.
With projects like the Malerkotla Medical College, the state aims to create better opportunities for youth while improving the overall quality of life for its citizens.
