Punjab Police Modernization Enhances Fleet, Road Safety, and Emergency Response Across the State

Chandigarh : The Mann government has taken significant steps to modernize the police force in Punjab, aligning it with changing times and emerging needs. During a press conference, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann shared impressive statistics from the past four years, highlighting the ongoing Punjab Police Modernization initiative.

As part of the Punjab Police Modernization drive, 450 police stations across the state have been equipped with new vehicles, and an additional 508 vehicles are set to be deployed to police forces (PCR) in the coming days. Over the last four years, a total of 2,904 vehicles were purchased at a cost of ₹327.70 crore to strengthen law enforcement across Punjab.

Punjab Police Modernization Strengthens State Road Safety Force with New Vehicles and Rapid Response

Special focus was also placed on the Punjab Police Modernization of the State Road Safety Force (SSF). The SSF has received 116 Toyota Hilux, 28 Mahindra Scorpio, and 8 New Zealand-manufactured vehicles. From February 2024 to January 2026, the SSF assisted 47,386 people in 43,983 accidents, ensuring that 19,973 individuals were transported to hospitals in time, demonstrating the crucial impact of vehicle upgrades on public safety.

“Through this comprehensive Punjab Police Modernization program, we are not only strengthening our law enforcement capabilities but also enhancing road safety and rapid response mechanisms across the state,” Chief Minister Mann said.

Officials emphasized that the Punjab Police Modernization effort ensures modern vehicles, advanced patrolling capabilities, and efficient emergency response, positioning Punjab as a leading state in police and road safety modernization in India.

The Mann government’s initiative reflects a strong commitment to public safety, crime prevention, and modernization of police infrastructure, setting a benchmark for other states to follow.
