The Punjab government on Friday formally launched year-long celebrations to mark the 650th Guru Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Ji, reaffirming its institutional commitment to preserving and promoting the revered Guru’s legacy through a comprehensive series of religious, cultural and academic initiatives across the state till February 20, 2027.
Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann inaugurated the commemorations by announcing a sustained calendar of programmes, including congregations, Sant Sammelans, katha-kirtan events, conventions and university-level seminars. Alongside these, the government unveiled major infrastructure initiatives such as the expansion of the Sri Guru Ravidass Memorial at Khuralgarh and the establishment of a Sri Guru Ravidass Bani Research Centre near Dera Ballan in Jalandhar.
Emphasising that financial limitations would not hinder the scale or spirit of the celebrations, the Chief Minister assured that all guidance issued by the Sant Samaj would be fully implemented. He said the year-long observances align with the Aam Aadmi Party government’s broader governance approach focused on education reforms, strengthened public healthcare, and welfare-oriented policymaking.

Addressing the state-level event organised to mark the 649th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji, CM Mann congratulated the Sangat and underscored the collective responsibility to spread Guru Ji’s message of equality and social harmony across the world. Describing himself as a humble participant in the sacred congregation, the Chief Minister assured that the government would make unprecedented arrangements to commemorate the upcoming 650th Parkash Purb. Recalling recent commemorations, he said the state had earlier organised year-long events to mark the 350th Shaheedi Diwas of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji and has adopted a similar approach for Guru Ravidass Ji’s Guru Purb.
Highlighting Khuralgarh’s spiritual significance, Mann noted that Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji spent more than four years there and delivered a powerful message of equality from the sacred land. To institutionalise Guru Ji’s legacy, he said Chairs dedicated to Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaj Ji have been established at Panjab University and Guru Nanak Dev University to promote academic research on his teachings and philosophy.
