CM Bhagwant Singh Mann govt compensates flood-hit families with Rs. 35 crore, covering homes, crops, and livestock across 1,143 villages.

The Punjab government, led by Bhagwant Singh Mann has so far compensated 1143 villages in the state for all kinds of damages, including harm to homes, crops, and livestock.

The state government resumed its extensive outreach under Mission Chardi Kala on the second day in a row of the third phase of relief distribution. Over Rs. 35 crore has been distributed in these two days to flood-affected families throughout the state.

Nearly 70 locations across the districts of Amritsar, Fazilka, Ferozepur, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Mansa, Sangrur, and SBS Nagar hosted relief distribution programs.

According to an official spokesperson, during separate events in the Ferozepur district, approximately 3,000 farmers received compensation totaling more than Rs. 16.68 crores from Ranbir Singh Bhullar (MLA Ferozepur Urban), Rajneesh Dahiya (MLA Ferozepur Rural), Naresh Kataria (MLA Zira), and Fauja Singh Sarari (MLA Guru Har Sahai).

In Dera Baba Nanak, MLA Gurdip Singh Randhawa gave 935 flood-affected families in the villages of Shahpur Goraya, Bhagtana Tulian, Agwan, Shakri, and Machhrala more than Rs. 3.71 crores in compensation.

270 beneficiaries from the villages of Atari, Dohak, Jhabelwali, Khokhar, Kotli Sanghar, Lubanianwali, Marar Kalan, Man Singh Wala, Mukand Singh Wala, Thandewala, Udekaran, and Vangal received section letters from MLA Jagdeep Singh Kaka Brar in Sri Muktsar Sahib for compensation related to the damage to their homes during an event held in Thandewala village.

Similarly, impacted families from Sultanpur Lodhi constituency’s villages of Alam Khanwala, Sherpur Dogra, and Passan Kadeem received compensation. For flood-affected residents in the villages of Toot, Motla, Jai Ram Kot, and Bhagupur Bet, SDM Lopoke Sanjeev Sharma issued sanction letters totaling around Rs. 26 lakh under the Lopoke Sub-Division of District Amritsar. According to him, the beneficiaries’ bank accounts will receive a straight credit of the approved sum.

Notably, Punjab has become the only state in the nation to offer flood-affected families the greatest compensation, guaranteeing that aid is distributed effectively and transparently to all eligible households.

He added that farmers received the greatest crop loss compensation in India, Rs. 20,000 per acre, and that financial aid for damaged homes was increased from Rs. 6,500 to Rs. 40,000 per dwelling. Additionally, the state has provided vital assistance to help households reestablish their livelihoods by compensating livestock losses at a rate of Rs. 37,500 per milch animal, Rs. 32,000 every non-milch animal, Rs. 20,000 per calf, and Rs. 100 per chicken bird.

According to the spokesperson, Punjab’s historic “Jisda Khet, Usdi Ret” initiative gave its farmers the authority to remove sand from their own fields for the first time in the country’s history, enabling them to recover their land and get ready for the upcoming planting season. According to him, the state administration, led by Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to making sure that every worthy family is compensated in full and on schedule for damages to their homes, crops, and cattle.
