Haryana CM Saini felicitates World Cup-winning cricketer Shafali Verma with Rs 1.5 Cr award & brand ambassador role, inspiring youth across the state.

Shafali Verma, a member of the Indian Women’s Cricket Team who won the 2025 World Cup, was given a cheque for Rs 1.50 crore and a Grade-A grading certificate by Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini in recognition of her exceptional accomplishment. Cricket player Shafali Verma has also been named the brand ambassador for the Haryana State Commission for Women.

At his home, Sant Kabir Kutir, here today, the Chief Minister gave out the honor. Shafali Verma’s father, brother, and grandpa were among the family members in attendance, as were Urban Local Bodies Minister Sh. Vipul Goel. She was congratulated by the Chief Minister with a shawl and a keepsake.

Sh. Nayab Singh Saini congratulated Shafali Verma and her family, saying that Haryana is a center of sports and that the state’s daughters have represented the country with honor on a global scale. “The Haryana daughter was instrumental in the World Cup final, which helped India win the World Cup,” he continued.

Shafali Verma, a cricket player, is a national inspiration for young people.

According to Sh. Nayab Singh Saini, cricket player Shafali Verma has raised the nation’s, her family’s, and the state’s pride. For young people all around the nation, she serves as an inspiration. A number of initiatives are being developed by the state government to support athletes. Throughout the state, about 2,000 sports nurseries have established to train kids at the grassroots level and give them a chance to succeed. The youth have the full support of the government.

He added that the state government is using cyclothons and marathons as part of its awareness initiatives to urge young people to abstain from drug use. Regarding her meeting with Prime Minister Sh. Narendra Modi, the Chief Minister also spoke with cricket player Shafali Verma.

Cricket player Shafali Verma remarked that winning the World Cup was a huge thrill and thanked the Haryana government. She declared, “This victory is the success of every female cricket player, not just our team.” Haryana’s land is ideal for sports, she continued, and the people of the state actively encourage athletic pursuits.

Meeting the Chief Minister, according to Shafali Verma, has significantly increased her self-confidence. She exhorted the state’s and the nation’s citizens to work hard and never lose trust in themselves. She praised the state government’s initiatives to help athletes and encouraged young people to have confidence in themselves, accomplish their dreams, and please their parents.
