The Jagraon Water Treatment Plant has been inaugurated by Punjab Cabinet Minister Barinder Kumar Goyal as part of the Bhagwant Mann-led governmentโs efforts to strengthen water conservation and improve irrigation facilities across the state.
According to information shared by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab on X, the newly commissioned plant will help recycle treated water for agricultural use, ensuring that clean water reaches farmersโ fields instead of being discharged into sewer systems.
Treated Water to Benefit 1,065 Acres of Farmland
The Jagraon Water Treatment Plant has been designed to provide treated water for irrigation across nearly 1,065 acres of agricultural land in the region.
Earlier, treated water from such plants was typically released back into drainage or sewer networks after processing. Under the new initiative, the treated water will instead be supplied directly to nearby farms, helping farmers access an additional source of irrigation while promoting efficient water use.
