Baltej Pannu Exposes Akali Dal’s Dark Legacy in Punjab, Questions Sukhbir Singh Badal on Beadbi Incidents

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab State General Secretary and Media Incharge Baltej Pannu has strongly criticized Shiromani Akali Dal Chief Sukhbir Singh Badal for attempting to shift blame over Punjab’s beadbi (sacrilege) cases. According to Baltej Pannu, the controversial incidents, including the Kotkapura firing and Behbal Kalan killings, trace back to the Akali Dal’s regime, and Sukhbir Singh Badal is now trying to rewrite history to deflect accountability.

Baltej Pannu highlighted that faced with growing political irrelevance, Sukhbir Singh Badal is attempting to blame the AAP government for incidents that occurred under his leadership. “By holding the AAP government responsible for beadbi, Sukhbir Singh Badal is making a desperate attempt to save his political ground,” said Baltej Pannu, “but the people of Punjab know the truth.”

Referring to past cases, Baltej Pannu questioned Badal’s claims, saying, “Who was in power during the 1986 Nakodar sacrilege when four youths demanding justice were martyred? Was AAP in Punjab at that time? No. It was your government, Sukhbir Singh Badal.” Similarly, the 2015 desecration at Burj Jawahar Singh Wala occurred under the Badal-led government, he added.

Citing reports from the Justice Ranjit Singh Commission and Justice Zora Singh Commission, Baltej Pannu reiterated that the Akali Dal’s actions during 2007–2017 led Punjab into a dark era of drugs, corruption, and beadbi. “The Kotkapura firing, the Behbal Kalan killings, and patronage of culprits are all part of your legacy, Sukhbir Singh Badal. The people of Punjab will never forget or forgive this,” warned Baltej Pannu.

The AAP leader emphasized that shifting blame to the current government will not erase the historical truth. Baltej Pannu concluded by asserting that accountability is essential and that Punjab’s citizens remain aware of who was responsible for the sacrilege incidents.
