Kejriwal urges citizens to support Punjab in crisis

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) National Convener and Former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to people across India to extend their support to Punjab as the state continues to face the devastating impact of floods. Addressing the nation on Tuesday, Kejriwal emphasized Punjab’s historic role in standing strong during national crises and urged citizens to reciprocate that solidarity in the state’s hour of need.

“Punjab has always stood tall with its chest held high in the face of any calamity that has befallen the country. Today, Punjab is in crisis. I appeal to all my fellow countrymen to help the people of Punjab in every possible way during this difficult time,” Kejriwal said.

Flood situation and relief measures

The floods have severely impacted several districts of Punjab, submerging villages, damaging crops, and displacing thousands of families. Relief camps have been set up across affected regions to provide temporary shelter, food, and medical care.

State officials have mobilized rescue teams, deployed boats, and coordinated with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to evacuate stranded residents. Meanwhile, the health department has intensified medical support to prevent outbreaks of water-borne diseases.

Additionally, farmers have reported heavy losses due to sand deposits on agricultural land, raising concerns over long-term livelihood challenges. The Punjab government has announced policies to help affected farmers and restore farmlands.

Call for unity and nationwide solidarity

Kejriwal’s appeal underscores the importance of unity during natural calamities. His message reflects both emotional and practical dimensions of disaster response, combining symbolic leadership with actionable support. By donating one month’s salary, AAP legislators aim to inspire citizens and organizations across India to contribute generously.

Social activists and community groups have also joined relief efforts, distributing food, medicines, and essential supplies in villages. Kejriwal urged corporations, NGOs, and individuals to channel their aid through verified platforms to maximize impact.

He concluded by reiterating his call for national solidarity: “This is not just Punjab’s crisis; it is a crisis for all of us as Indians. Our support today will help Punjab recover stronger tomorrow.”
