Multiple private schools in Amritsar closed after bomb threat emails; police probe origins amid suspicions of a hoax incident.
Chandigarh: On Friday morning, widespread panic ensued in Amritsar as several private schools received bomb threat email claiming that explosives had been planted on their premises.
Even as the managements of these schools evacuated their premises and contacted the parents to retrieve their children, the administration mandated the closure of all institutions, and police teams promptly arrived to investigate the situation. Approximately 15 institutions were reported to have received the aforementioned bomb threat correspondence.

According to authorities, while explosive disposal units were dispatched to the schools and anti-sabotage inspections were in progress, police teams were also monitoring the origins of the mail. However, police sources indicated that the alleged threats may have been a mischievous act, as similar incidents had been reported in 2022 and in July of this year, both of which proved to be hoaxes.
