Epic Samrat Vikramaditya Play Celebrates Madhya Pradesh 70th Foundation Day

by Desk

Madhya Pradesh celebrates 70th Foundation Day with epic Samrat Vikramaditya play, folk dances, craft fair, and cultural performances in Bhopal.

Dr. Mohan Yadav, the Chief Minister, said that Samrat Vikramaditya was a model of bravery, kindness, fairness, courage, and good government. For the first time in Bhopal, a big historical play on the substance of his rule, which lasted almost two thousand years, was played. The performers used horse regiments to make the live battle scenes more spectacular. The realistic way that battle situations were shown made history come alive for the spectator. The scenes showing Samrat Vikramaditya’s coronation and other important events from his reign were the best parts of the presentation.

Dr. Yadav, the Chief Minister, spoke at the event on the second day of Madhya Pradesh’s 70th Foundation Day celebrations at Lal Parade Ground. He said that Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has stressed growth coupled with heritage protection, which is a philosophy that drives Madhya Pradesh’s prosperity. He talked about how the country fought against foreign invaders, how colonial control took away people’s dignity, and how things started to get better when Samrat Vikramaditya became king. Vikramaditya cared about the public good even when he was young. He took over the governance after getting advice from Acharya Chandragupta.

During Samrat Vikramaditya’s rule, people were freed from debt, Vikram Samvat was established for the first time in history, fair government was put in place, and the fabled Navratnas, famous poets and thinkers, were brought together. It was clear that he cared about even the most lowly people in society.

The performance showed nightly patrols, Vikramaditya’s knowledge of the good things about criminals, and how he used such traits for the good of the country. The elaborate coronation scene made a big deal out of his special leadership, which was blessed by Mahakal Maharaj and Maa Harsiddhi Devi.

Dr. Yadav, the Chief Minister, commended all the artists and congratulated the whole cast on the movie-like style and grandeur of the show. Among the distinguished guests were Shri Karan Singh Verma, the Minister of Revenue; Smt. Krishna Gaur, the Minister of Backward Classes Welfare; MLAs; and numerous top officials, as well as civilians.

The colors of creation, culture, and art filled Lal Parade Ground all day. Folk performances, dance-dramas, music, and exhibitions made the capital a center of creative activity, combining old and new ideas.

The evening featured the beautiful and one-of-a-kind historical play “Samrat Vikramaditya,” which was directed by Sanjeev Malviya and put on by the Vishala Cultural and Welfare Society of Ujjain. The performers’ performances, lavish costumes, dramatic language, amazing stage design, and striking usage of camels, horses, elephants, palanquins, and buggies all added to the grandeur. There were three stages with modern visuals, ashram and jungle sets, and a spectacular recreation of the Mahakal temple. 150 artisans brought the tale to life.

The play was meant to be both entertaining and a reminder of how magnificent Madhya Pradesh used to be. It also wanted to inspire people to work for the welfare, governance, and development of the state today, using figures like Vikramaditya as examples.

Samrat Vikramaditya is one of India’s most famous and respected ancient heroes, along with celestial figures like Shri Ram and Shri Krishna. His bravery, unwavering quest to free the country from invaders, impressive political achievements, successful military campaigns, exemplary legal system, and support of arts and literature are all lasting symbols of justice and statesmanship that are celebrated not only in India but also in nearby and faraway countries. Vikramaditya beat the feared Shak invaders and set up the famous Vikram Samvat calendar. Stories of his bravery and wisdom can be found in classic works like Betal Pachisi and Sinhasan Battisi. Kalidas and Varahmihir were two famous people who were part of his court. The play showed how he went from being born to becoming king.
