President Droupadi Murmu made a historic Rafale flight from Ambala Air Force Station, welcomed by Haryana Minister Anil Vij, marking a new defense milestone.

Haryana’s Energy, Transport, and Labour Minister, Sh. Anil Vij, welcomed President of India Smt. Droupadi Murmu at the Ambala Air Force Station today on behalf of the Haryana Government.

President Murmu made a historic flight in the nation’s cutting-edge fourth-generation multirole Rafale fighter aircraft from Ambala Air Force Station following a brief meeting with the Minister. She was the first Indian president to fly in two Indian Air Force fighter planes. She made history earlier in 2023 when she flew in a Sukhoi-30 MKI.

The President, in his capacity as the Supreme Commander of the Indian Armed Forces, flew for about half an hour, traveling about 200 kilometers. Group Captain Amit Gehani, the 17 Squadron’s Commanding Officer, flew the aircraft. The Rafale flew at a speed of around 700 kilometers per hour and reached an altitude of almost 15,000 feet.

The President received a thorough briefing on the Rafale aircraft’s operational capabilities, technical attributes, and strategic importance in bolstering India’s defense forces.

Notably, the Rafale aircraft from French company Dassault Aviation was delivered to Ambala Air Force Station first in India, bringing the Indian Air Force’s operational and strategic capabilities to a new level.

The President was joined for a group shot by Energy Minister Sh. Anil Vij and other dignitaries during the function.

Senior Air Force officers, Deputy Commissioner Sh. Ajay Singh Tomar, Superintendent of Police Sh. Ajit Singh Sekhawat, IG Ambala Range Sh. Pankaj Nain, Ambala Division Commissioner Sh. Sanjeev Verma, and other administrative officers attended the occasion.
