VP C. P. Radhakrishnan attends International Gita Mahotsav 2025 in Kurukshetra, highlighting Bhagavad Gita’s teachings on dharma, karma, and character.

Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, the Vice-President of India, attended the Akhil Bhartiya Devsthanam Sammelan today at Kurukshetra as the Chief Guest. The event was held in conjunction with the International Gita Mahotsav 2025.

Among the dignitaries in attendance were Gita Manishi Swami Gyananand Ji Maharaj, Haryana Chief Minister Sh Nayab Singh Saini, and others.

Speaking at the event, the vice president expressed how honored he was to be standing on the sacred grounds of Kurukshetra, a region known as the “Land of the Vedas.” He pointed them that this hallowed location has been honored for thousands of years as the location where Lord Shri Krishna gave Arjuna the spiritual wisdom found in the Bhagavad Gita. “Kurukshetra is a timeless reminder that dharma ultimately triumphs over adharma, no matter how powerful the latter may appear,” he said.

In addition to being a religious text, the Vice-President called the Bhagavad Gita “a universal manual for righteous living, courageous action, and enlightened consciousness.” He emphasized that the key to leading a meaningful and purposeful life is still Lord Krishna’s injunction to concentrate on one’s karma while being led by dharma.

In light of the need of developing a strong character, he stated that character is far more significant than money or other material accomplishments. He pointed out that the Gita directs people to live moral and disciplined lives, reminding us—as Lord Krishna did—that moral strength results from a clear sense of purpose and a commitment to virtue.

The vice president emphasized the Gita’s timeless significance and expressed hope that it will continue to lead people, societies, and nations toward peace and harmony in an era of fast change.

He expressed his gratitude for the event’s expansion, pointing out that Gita Jayanti, which is observed once a year, has transformed into a worldwide cultural and spiritual festival in the last nine years. He commended the Haryana government and chief minister, Shri Nayab Singh Saini, for bringing the Mahotsav to a global audience and guiding Haryana toward new achievements.

The Vice-President expressed gratitude that the International Gita Mahotsav presents the teachings of the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, the sublime qualities of Lord Krishna, and the rich cultural legacy of Sanatan Dharma in a way that is accessible to all ages.

He praised the Mahotsav as a forum that upholds the principles of dharma, duty, self-discipline, and the quest of excellence, which have supported Bharat for millennia. He stated that these principles serve as the cornerstone of the national vision of Aatma Nirbhar Bharat and Viksit Bharat @ 2047, which Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has outlined.

The Vice-President also expressed gratitude for the conference that was arranged by the Gita Knowledge Institute and the Kurukshetra Development Board, which brought together cultural leaders, scholars, artists, technological specialists, and saints from all over India. He claimed that these kind of events foster greater communication, improve cross-cultural understanding, and encourage young people to view the Bhagavad Gita as a living manual of bravery, humility, and wisdom rather than as a remote text.

As he wrapped up his speech, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan exhorted everyone in attendance to internalize the timeless lessons of the Bhagavad Gita: to act morally, pursue knowledge, embrace peace, and advance human welfare.

The Vice-President, Shri C. P. Radhakrishnan, had earlier visited and prayed at the Maa Bhadrakali Shaktipeeth Temple in Kurukshetra.
