Haryana makes major strides in rail infrastructure. Kurukshetra Elevated Track, HORC, and Eastern Orbital Rail projects progress steadily under HRIDC.
Kurukshetra : Haryana Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi, who also serves as Chairman of the Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation (HRIDC), stated that significant advancements have been made in a number of the state’s marquee rail infrastructure projects. He was assessing the state of ongoing projects at the HRIDC Board of Directors’ 33rd meeting.
The Kurukshetra Elevated Track (KET) Project has moved to a level of design and construction, the meeting was informed. The viaduct has finished all of its overhead electrification (OHE), civil, track, and signaling and telecommunication (S&T) work. The elevated platform is likewise nearing complete in terms of construction. After the work is finished, Northern Railways will offer it for technical examination, and Commissioner Railway Safety will then examine it.
The officials were instructed by Chief Secretary Sh. Anurag Rastogi to accelerate the project’s progress. Given the knowledge that HRIDC had gathered, the Chief Secretary recommended that the HRIDC broaden its scope and strive for a nationwide presence.
The feasibility study for the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor is ongoing.
A steering committee led by the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh has already approved the alignment for the study on the Eastern Orbital Rail Corridor (EORC), which runs from Sonipat to Palwal via Baghpat, Ghaziabad, and Gautam Buddha Nagar. The meeting was informed that the feasibility study is currently in an advanced stage.

The Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor has reached several milestones.
The Chief Secretary reviewed the Haryana Orbital Rail Corridor (HORC) and stated that there has been a lot of work in a number of areas. In June 2025, the project’s Manesar-Patli portion and the Maruti Railway yard were put into service. As of right now, 372 rakes have been loaded from the Maruti Plant in Manesar. This marks an important turning point for the business, and the HORCL has begun to see revenue. Additionally, the project has obtained Stage-I (in-principle) forest clearance, and an application for Aravalli clearance has been submitted for approval.
With the payment of Rs 1,533 crore against land awards totaling Rs 1,878 crore, significant progress has also been made in the area of land compensation. Arbitration awards have also resulted in the disbursement of Rs 99 crore.
Tunnel Construction Quickens
Cross-sectionally, the HORC tunnel is among the biggest for passenger traffic, and work is moving forward steadily. To speed up efforts, two more faces are being developed in addition to the eight active faces that are now working. Excavating 3,773 meters, or more than 52% of the 7,200 meters of tunnel that will be built using the New Austrian Tunnelling Method (NATM), has already been finished.
The Goal of Improved Connectivity
Sh. Rastogi commented on the overall development, stressing that these initiatives show Haryana’s strong commitment to creating rail infrastructure that is up to date, effective, and sustainable. He said that the corridors will greatly boost economic growth, increase regional connections, and facilitate citizen movement. The Chief Secretary pledged that HRIDC will continue to prioritize timely execution while upholding strict quality, safety, and environmental compliance standards.
