Health Minister Arti Singh Rao inaugurates NICU at PGIMS Rohtak, aiming to reduce infant mortality and provide modern care to all babies.

The State Government is dedicated to guaranteeing the health of every citizen, from young children to the elderly, according to Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao, who also stated that sick newborn children from low-income households will not be denied access to medical care. Today saw the opening of a 28-bed Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) in the Pediatric Department of PGIMS Rohtak, which would primarily help the less fortunate.

The Health Minister stated that it was frequently noted that the lack of ICU beds at PGIMS caused significant hardship for neonates delivered outside of PGIMS who needed ICU care owing to sickness and their families. An intensive care unit (ICU) for outborn neonates had been felt to be necessary at PGIMS Rohtak for a number of years.

According to her, the State Government built this cutting-edge intensive care unit with contemporary amenities with the interests of low-income patients in mind. PGIMS sees patients from all over the state. The care of extremely unwell neonates has now become the focus of this intensive care unit.

Premature babies need neonatal intensive care unit care because they are frequently underweight and may have breathing problems, according to Arti Singh Rao. With the opening of this new institution, dangerously ill neonates and infants will no longer need to receive care from private hospitals or other cities. The institute’s neonatal intensive care unit (ICU) beds were formerly extremely few, which made it extremely difficult to enroll infants younger than one month. With its state-of-the-art equipment, this unit will now treat newborns more quickly and effectively.

Following the opening of the 28-bed Neonatal ICU, Dr. H.K. Aggarwal, Vice Chancellor of PGIMS Rohtak, announced that the facility includes all the newest medical technology. For this endeavor, he particularly complimented Health Minister Arti Singh Rao and Haryana Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.

According to Dr. Aggarwal, each month, about 200 babies in need of intensive care unit treatment arrive at the emergency room. The state’s infant death rate would significantly improve with the commissioning of this ICU, which is a big contribution to the growth of the country.
