Haryana launches 25th crushing season at Gohana’s Chaudhary Devi Lal Cooperative Sugar Mill; modern tech, fair cane prices, and farmer prosperity emphasized.
The 25th crushing season (2025–2026) of the Chaudhary Devi Lal Cooperative Sugar Mill in Gohana was officially opened today by Haryana Cooperation Minister Dr. Arvind Sharma. At the event, he stated that the mill is more than just an industrial facility; it is the result of farmers’ labor and the primary source of income for thousands of households. Smt. Rita Sharma, his wife, was also there for the event.
The mill’s biggest assets, according to Dr. Sharma, are the farmers’ sweat, hard labor, and faith. The Haryana government is prioritizing adopting new technology, enhancing mill operations, and paying farmers on schedule. According to him, the price of sugarcane of the early type is set at Rs. 415 per quintal, while that of the late variety is set at Rs. 408 per quintal. Farmers around the state received Rs. 1,211 crore during the previous crushing season, which includes Rs. 103 crore from Sonipat Mill and Rs. 80 crore from Gohana Mill.
He claimed that farmers have saved a significant amount of time thanks to the online token system used in cooperative sugar mills. The process of supplying harvesting machinery on subsidy in collaboration with the Agriculture Department is also being accelerated in light of labor-related issues during sugarcane harvesting.

Since farmers and workers form the foundation of the mill, the Cooperation Minister instructed the management to make sure they are respected and have access to sufficient facilities. He said that this crushing season will be one of success and new opportunities thanks to improved management and contemporary technology, which would further increase the mill’s operation.
Dr. Sharma reminisced about his request from the previous year to reestablish contact between the mill and former sugarcane farmers, and he urged the management and public officials to keep up their efforts. ‘Viksit Bharat 2047′ is an objective that the cooperative sector can help achieve, he said. The Sugar Federation and Cooperation Department are always striving for farmers’ prosperity under the direction of Chief Minister Sh. Nayab Singh Saini.
Additionally, Dr. Sharma recognized farmers that produced the cleanest produce and the most sugarcane throughout the 2024–2025 season. For the largest supply of sugarcane, Sanjay from the village of Busana (16,625 quintals) and Darshan from Bhainswal Kalan (7,727 quintals) received awards. Additionally, farmers who arrived to the mill first received recognition.
