Haryana CM Nayab Singh Saini urges adoption of vertical farming, AI, and stubble management technology for future-ready agriculture and global crop competitiveness.
According to Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini, the Agriculture Department ought to encourage farmers to embrace contemporary technology like vertical farming in light of the times and the depletion of agricultural land. He stated that by comprehending new technical demands, developments, and difficulties, the department must step up its efforts to prepare for the future.
The Chief Minister stated that the various programs being carried out by the Agriculture and Horticulture Departments should be evaluated in order to determine the difficulties that are anticipated to arise over the course of the next ten years. He was speaking at a review meeting of the Department of Future here today. He emphasized that throughout the year, the departments must operate with a clear vision and well-thought-out plans, keeping future needs front and center.
In order to stop farmers from burning crop leftovers, the Chief Minister stated that efforts must be taken to implement technology. He underlined that the Department of Future and the Agriculture Department should work together to create solutions that deter stubble burning and facilitate the clearance of crop leftovers from fields. In a similar vein, he recommended holding discussions with pertinent companies to guarantee that machine-harvested and combine-harvested crops meet the necessary moisture standards.
The Chief Minister stated that the India International Horticulture Market being built in Gannaur is probably going to face a lot of pressure in the upcoming years due to the state’s rapidly expanding connectivity. He recommended that the department create a long-term plan that would cover ten to twenty years in order to successfully handle issue. The focus of Haryana’s future preparedness, he continued, should be on directing farmers toward commodities that would be in demand worldwide and in which Haryana has a competitive edge.
He stated that as part of their long-term planning, every department strives to improve the application of AI and digital governance.
