Haryana ensures safer sports facilities after athletes’ deaths; strict inspections and upgrades mandated to prevent future tragedies.

The State Government is dedicated to giving athletes safer and better sports facilities, according to Haryana’s Minister of State for Sports, Sh. Gaurav Gautam. He expressed his profound sadness at the untimely deaths of two gifted athletes who were using dangerous sports equipment during practice. He stressed that such tragedies are never acceptable and that the state is taking immediate steps to guarantee that they don’t happen again.

Motilal Nehru School of Sports, Rai (Sonipat), the Deputy Directors of Sports Boards in Ambala, Hisar, Rohtak, and Gurugram, as well as all District Sports Officers throughout the state, have been instructed by the Sports Minister to perform a comprehensive examination of the structures and sporting goods in every sports complex. He ordered that any equipment that was discovered to be dangerous or in poor repair and endangering the players’ safety be taken out of service right away.

Officers were instructed by Sh. Gautam to immediately cease using any dangerous sporting facilities in all sports complexes. He stated that the District Sports Councils’ available finances must be used immediately to rehabilitate such structures and equipment. In the event that the Directorate of Sports has already released funds to the Public Works Department or the Sports and Physical Fitness Authority of Haryana for this purpose, the relevant departments must work together right once to guarantee that the reconstruction and repair work is finished as soon as possible.

In order to entirely eliminate the chance of an accident, he further ordered that all sports complexes in the state make sure that participants are not using any dangerous equipment or dilapidated structures.

The government’s first concern is player safety, the sports minister reaffirmed. He also said unequivocally that the involved officers will be held personally accountable for any carelessness in carrying out these directives.
