CM Nayab Saini flags off 10 e-buses in Kurukshetra; free rides till Diwali. Govt plans 500 e-buses across 10 cities to boost green public transport.

Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini gave Kurukshetra residents an electric bus service by sending off 10 e-buses.

The chief minister and former minister Subhash Sudha took an e-bus from Jyotisar to Kurukshetra University. They claimed that people will be able to ride these e-buses for free until Diwali.

The chief minister noted that these e-buses will run on several routes, which will help both local people and tourists from other parts of the country and the world.

He stated that the government has chosen to buy 50 electric buses for each of the 10 municipal corporations: Panchkula, Ambala, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panipat, Sonepat, Rohtak, Hisar, Gurugram, and Faridabad. This would make a total of 500 vehicles.

Saini claimed that Rewari will get 50 buses because it is close to Delhi, Gurugram, and the suburbs. The transport department has chosen to buy 375 standard-floor 12-meter air-conditioned e-buses under the Gross Cost Contract (GCC) model.

The electric bus services are already running in Panipat, Yamunanagar, Karnal, Panchkula, Hisar, Rohtak, Rewari, and Sonepat (five buses each), as well as in Ambala (ten buses).

He also said that all ten cities are building separate bus depots to facilitate the operation of these 375 buses. The Panipat depot is almost finished, and the Yamunanagar depot is almost finished.
