Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao warns allopathic drug makers on hazardous solvents; inspections underway, action taken, praised by J.P. Nadda.

According to Haryana Health Minister Arti Singh Rao, the state government has warned all producers of Allopathic Drug or medications about the usage of hazardous solvents. Continual inspections are being carried out, and medicine producers that have been found to be lacking in mandated criteria have received notifications. Additionally, Union Health Minister Sh. J.P. Nadda expressed gratitude for the state government’s efforts in the health sector.

From Chandigarh, Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda received a virtual briefing from Health Minister Arti Singh Rao regarding the state government’s several health-related activities.

Minister of the Food and Drug Administration Department Dr. Manoj Kumar, Assistant State Drug Controller Sh. Rakesh Dahiya, State Drug Controller Sh. Lalit Kumar Goel, and Health Department Secretary Dr. R.S. Dhillon were in attendance.

All of the state’s allopathic drug producers have been told by the health minister to use caution when purchasing, storing, and using hazardous solvents such propylene glycol, glycol, and glycerin. “The state government has already started inspections to verify these solvents,” she said. As of right now, 54 samples have been gathered and sent for testing, and 37 inspections have been completed.

Additionally, Arti Singh Rao stated that the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has been conducting collaborative inspections. 31 samples have been collected for testing thus far, and 14 inspections have been completed. Every company where inconsistencies were discovered has received a notice. 267 solvent-related samples have also been gathered from Haryana’s retail units and forwarded for analysis.

She also told the Union Minister that the Online National Drugs Licensing System (ONDLS) is already being used by the Health Department of Haryana. This portal is being used to grant all production and sales licenses.

Sh. J.P. Nadda expressed gratitude for the Haryana Government’s outstanding efforts on this platform.

The Health Minister also disclosed that 33 risk-based inspections (RBI) of medication manufacturing facilities have been carried out, adding that each case has already resulted in action. There have been two manufacturing licenses revoked and twelve companies told to cease production. Furthermore, there have been 17 risk-based inspections (RBI) of drug testing labs, and in each instance, appropriate action has been taken. One laboratory has had its license revoked.

She also stated that a new drug laboratory is being created and will be operating in the next four months, complete with all the tools required. To further enhance the medication regulation system, a proposal worth an estimated Rs 91.9 crore is being sent to the Central Drugs Standard Control Organization. The plan calls for the establishment of three new laboratories in Gurugram, Hisar, and Karnal.
