Ahmedabad / Surat / Gujarat: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state spokesperson Yogesh Jadwani has strongly criticized the BJP government, citing alarming data from the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB). The remarks have sparked political debate across the state, with Aam Aadmi Party Gujarat highlighting serious concerns about farmers’ distress and rising suicides.
Addressing the issue through a video statement, Yogesh Jadwani said that according to NCRB data, around 28 farmers and agricultural labourers are dying by suicide every day in India. He further stated that in Gujarat alone, 381 farmers have died by suicide in a single year, with a majority of cases reported from the Saurashtra region. The AAP leader said these figures reflect a deep agrarian crisis and increasing pressure on rural livelihoods, as highlighted by Aam Aadmi Party Gujarat.
He alleged that despite promises made by the BJP to double farmers’ income, agricultural producers are still not receiving fair prices for their crops. He claimed that rising costs of seeds, fertilizers, and agricultural medicines are further worsening the situation. According to him, cases of fake seeds and fertilizers supplied through alleged networks linked to influential people have severely impacted farmers’ productivity. These issues, he said, are being repeatedly raised by Aam Aadmi Party Gujarat as part of its criticism of agricultural policies.

Yogesh Jadwani further stated that NCRB data also shows 8,984 suicide cases in Gujarat in a single year, with nearly 71% of the victims being men. He claimed that increasing economic pressure, lack of business opportunities, rising GST burden, inflation, and high private education and healthcare costs have made life extremely difficult for common citizens. He said this situation reflects a deeper economic distress that Aam Aadmi Party Gujarat believes is being ignored by the ruling government.

The AAP spokesperson also alleged that instead of addressing public issues, the BJP is focused on electoral gains and has misused agencies and administrative systems for political purposes. He said that agriculture, small businesses, and common households are suffering due to current policies, and warned that public dissatisfaction is growing. These concerns, he added, are central to the narrative of Aam Aadmi Party Gujarat in the state.
Yogesh Jadwani concluded that NCRB data should be seen as an independent warning signal and not a political statement. He urged the government to take immediate corrective action, saying that if the situation continues, people will eventually vote against those in power. The statement has further intensified political debate around farmer welfare and economic distress in Gujarat, with Aam Aadmi Party Gujarat continuing to target the state and central government over the issue.
