AAP leaders allege BJP misused police in Junagadh, attacking workers and filing false FIRs; party vows to fight for justice.
Ahmedabad / Junagadh, Gujarat – The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) held a crucial press conference in Junagadh today, led by AAP Gujarat state general secretary Manoj Sorathia and Saurashtra zone minister Raju Borkhataria, addressing the alleged misuse of police and administrative powers by the BJP.
Speaking at the event, Sorathia stated that the BJP, which has ruled Gujarat for over 30 years, now resorts to using police and administration to suppress dissent. “The people of Visavadar have chosen AAP to fight against BJP’s authoritarianism. Today, the citizens of Gujarat place their hope in AAP,” he said.
The press conference followed an incident where AAP district president Haresh Sawalia and his team visited peanut procurement centers amid complaints of irregularities and illegal money collection from farmers. Sorathia alleged that BJP goons filed false atrocity cases against Sawalia, and he was brutally attacked in jail by 7–8 inmates, leaving him seriously injured. The charges against him included severe sections like 307, which were allegedly misused to keep him jailed longer.

Sorathia accused the BJP of orchestrating these attacks using criminals already imprisoned for murder, drugs, theft, and assaults, stating that the attack was a direct attempt to demoralize AAP workers. “This is not just an isolated incident; it is a conspiracy to break the morale of those fighting for the people. Yet, AAP continues to fight firmly against all such attacks,” he said.
He also cited similar cases from Haddad and Surat, where party workers were allegedly jailed on false charges, claiming that the BJP is systematically misusing the police to intimidate AAP leaders across Gujarat.
“We have full faith in the judiciary. Those abusing the law under the orders of the ruling party will not succeed. Truth will prevail in court, and the people of Gujarat will see justice,” Sorathia emphasized. He urged citizens to recognize that these false FIRs and attacks are part of BJP’s strategy to suppress legitimate public representation and protests.
The AAP leaders vowed to continue their struggle, promising to fight for justice and ensure that the ruling party’s alleged misuse of power does not succeed.
