AAP’s Saurabh Bharadwaj alleges police brutality against clean-air protesters at India Gate as Delhi’s AQI remains in the severe category.
AAP Delhi state president Saurabh Bharadwaj on Monday called attention to the violence committed against people demonstrating for the “right to clean air” outside India Gate, claiming that the government is stifling those who speak out against pollution.
The Delhi Police’s brutality toward the demonstrators on Sunday was made public by the AAP leader on social media. “This is the people of Delhi,” Bharadwaj commented alongside a photo of a police officer sitting on top of a protester with his hand covering the young man’s face on X. The government is crawling on top of them and strangling them while they are speaking out against pollution.
For the fourth occasion, a number of locals marched to the streets on Sunday, accusing the administration of not doing enough to ameliorate the situation and instead deceiving the public by falsifying data on air quality.

Opposition lawmakers reiterated residents’ fears about data manipulation, accusing the government of sprinkling water near Delhi’s numerous air quality monitoring stations.
“People will have to take care of themselves, because according to this government, there is no pollution in Delhi at all,” AAP Chief Spokesperson Priyanka Kakkar said, pointing to the government’s denial. For them, the answer is to mist AQI stations with water.
“At about 6 am, the AQI was 458 in Vivek Vihar, 458 in Rohini, 455 in Jahangirpuri, and 448 in Wazirpur,” Bharadwaj continued, highlighting the deteriorating pollution levels and the government’s indifference. Pollution remained in the severe category in several other places as well. The BJP government is indifferent to the fact that pollution is making people sick in every home and that hospital patient numbers are rising.
