Eeshna Gupta, AAP’s youngest MCD bypoll candidate, promises the GK Works App, faster grievance redressal, and a zero-waste Greater Kailash.
New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party has bet on 24-year-old Eeshna Gupta is the MCD bypoll candidate for the Greater Kailash ward in the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections scheduled for November 30. Gupta is the youngest candidate for MCD by election.
Gupta was born and reared in South Delhi, hails from a medical family, and has worked in social impact settings for the last eight years. With an MBA and a gold medal in social studies from Krea University, she has experience working with NGOs and other organizations. Her knowledge of civic gaps—from safety and street infrastructure to waste management and sanitation—has been molded by her involvement with RWAs, youth organizations, market associations, and local networks.
According to Gupta, leaders in municipal governance must have a deep understanding of daily concerns. Her initiative emphasizes direct engagement and responsibility while putting the needs of the residents first. In contrast to the customarily subdued ward election campaigns, Gupta has unveiled a comprehensive platform for council members that outlines nine fundamental pledges for Greater Kailash.

The projected GK Works App, which will enable locals to file complaints and follow developments in real time, is a major component of her strategy. Additionally, she promised a 24-hour window for addressing public concerns, supported by a dedicated garbage helpline that guarantees a three-hour resolution time. In order to solve sanitation issues that are frequently disregarded, her larger vision calls for Greater Kailash to become a zero-waste colony with segregated door-to-door garbage pickup and a “backlane cleaning army.”
The manifesto also lists safety measures for women, such as better street lighting and pink restrooms close to busy market areas. Citing worries about traffic and the loss of open space, she is against the planned development of a 400-bed private hospital in the residential neighborhood.
Additional major commitments include regular tree pruning, pre-monsoon drain de-silting, the use of municipal funds to purchase mechanical cleaning devices, and measures to lessen the threat posed by monkeys.

Gupta’s outreach strategy revolves around daily resident meetings, weekly colony walks, and fortnightly engagement with RWAs and market groups. Her emphasis on accessible local leadership is particularly noteworthy. The AAP has nominated candidates in each of the 12 wards that will be up for election, and she maintains that “governance must be participatory and transparent, promising monthly report cards to track progress.” The party has put forth Geeta Rawat from Vinod Nagar, Seema Vikas Goel from Ashok Vihar, Harsh Sharma from Chandni Chowk, and Muddasir Usman Qureshi from Chandni Mahal in addition to Gupta in Greater Kailash. Neetu Keshav Chauhan from Dichaon Kalan, Anuj Sharma from Sangam Vihar A, Anil Lakra from Mundka, Rajan Arora from Naraina, and Ram Swaroop Kanojia from Dakshin Puri will run. Anil Lakra, the former leader of the opposition, returns as the Mundka contender. Rajbala Sehrawat is going to run from Dwarka B.
