New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convenor and former Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has appealed to climate activist Sonam Wangchuk to end his ongoing Sonam Wangchuk hunger strike over alleged irregularities in the NEET examination process, including claims of paper leaks.
Kejriwal extended support to the protest being held at Jantar Mantar by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) and urged Wangchuk to choose other methods of raising concerns, citing his deteriorating health condition.
Kejriwal Expresses Concern Over Wangchuk’s Health
Speaking about the protest, Kejriwal said Sonam Wangchuk is an important figure for the country and appealed to him to end his indefinite fast.
“Sonam Wangchuk is on hunger strike for some days and his health is deteriorating. He is an asset of the country and I appeal to him to end his hunger strike. There are other ways also for the struggle,” Kejriwal said.
… pic.twitter.com/H2B5TFpSf3

He also called for reforms in the examination system to prevent paper leaks and ensure that students do not face difficulties in future competitive exams.
Wangchuk Continues Protest Over NEET Issues
The Sonam Wangchuk hunger strike began on June 28 as part of the CJP-led protest at Jantar Mantar. The protesters have been demanding action over alleged irregularities in NEET and other examinations, along with the resignation of the Education Minister.
AAP leader Atishi had earlier met Wangchuk at the protest site and extended support to the ongoing agitation.
Protesters Seek Government Dialogue
According to the Cockroach Janta Party, Wangchuk has refused to end his indefinite fast despite facing health challenges, including muscle loss and severe pain. The organisation stated that he wants the government to initiate dialogue on the issues raised by protesters.
As the Sonam Wangchuk hunger strike entered its 17th day, the protest movement completed 25 days at Jantar Mantar, with demands for transparency and reforms in India’s examination system continuing to remain at the centre of the agitation.
Focus on Examination Reforms
The controversy has renewed discussions around improving examination security, preventing paper leaks, and protecting the interests of students appearing for major competitive exams.
Kejriwal and other opposition leaders have called for stronger accountability mechanisms to ensure fairness and transparency in the education system.
