AAP Launches MCD By-Election Campaign, Slams BJP Corruption

AAP begins campaign for Delhi MCD by-elections, accusing BJP of corruption, mismanagement, and unfulfilled promises. By-elections on Nov 30, results Dec 3.

NEW DELHI:  The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also began its campaign for the next Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) by-elections, accusing the ruling BJP of pervasive corruption and failing to provide effective government. Speaking at a jansabha in the southwest Delhi village of Pochanpur, AAP leaders criticized the BJP’s management of rural Delhi and unapproved colonies, saying that authorities were registering complaints, sending bulldozers, and pocketing money to engage in unchecked bulldozer action and cash extortion.

AAP Delhi State President Saurabh Bharadwaj defended Rajbala Sehrawat, the party’s candidate for Dwarka B’s Ward 120, by claiming that the BJP’s development pledges had not been fulfilled. “Prizes for real estate, clean streets, a cleaner Yamuna, and prosperity were all promised by the BJP prior to the Delhi elections,” Bharadwaj remarked. Delhi residents accepted it and gave them a chance. None of those pledges, however, were kept.

Bharadwaj also criticized the BJP’s administration for not bringing about any noticeable changes, pointing out unsolved concerns like air pollution and sewage. Instead, “goondagardi” is the only thing that has spread, he continued, adding that no one knows where to turn for assistance and that bulldozers are being used to destroy properties.

Behind these acts are the same BJP MPs, MLAs, and MCD officials. Additionally, he emphasized the absence of accountability, saying that no one remained to oppose the BJP’s hold on the MCD, the Delhi government, and the federal government. “Unauthorized colonies are receiving bulldozers on their orders, and their own people are filing complaints,” Bharadwaj claimed.

According to the Delhi State Election Commission, the by-elections for 12 MCD wards will take place on November 30 and the results will be revealed on December 3.
