Bihar’s Vaibhav Sooryavanshi sets U-19 Asia Cup record with 171 runs against UAE, hitting 14 sixes in India’s 433-run innings.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi delivered an outstanding performance in the U-19 Asia Cup match against UAE in Dubai on Wednesday, amassing 171 runs from only 95 deliveries. His outstanding innings contributed to India achieving a substantial total of 433/6 in their allotted 50 overs.The 14-year-old left-handed batsman from Bihar established a new world record in U-19 cricket by striking fourteen sixes and nine fours during his innings.

During the 32nd over of India’s innings, as  Vaibhav Sooryavanshi was nearing his century, a notable interaction took place between him and UAE wicketkeeper Saleh Amin.Come on, gentlemen. Sooryavanshi subsequently allied with Aaron George at the crease. The young batsman initially adopted a cautious approach before increasing his scoring rate, attaining his fifty runs in only 30 deliveries.His formidable batting performance set a new tournament benchmark for the highest number of sixes in a single innings during the U-19 Asia Cup.

He exceeded the prior record of ten sixes established by Afghanistan’s Darwish Rasooli in 2017.Sooryavanshi maintained his assertive batting approach, achieving his century in 56 deliveries. He sustained his momentum to accumulate 150 runs from 84 balls before being run out after amassing 171 runs.

His innings was delivered at an impressive strike rate of 180.The innings now ranks as the second-highest score by an Indian in Youth ODI cricket. The record remains held by Ambati Rayudu, who achieved an unbeaten 177 against England U-19 in 2002.The Indian innings was effectively supported by Aaron George and Vihaan Malhotra, each contributing 69 runs.

Vedant Trivedi scored 38 runs, whereas Abhigyan Kundu and Kanishk Chouhan contributed 32 and 28 runs, respectively. The collective effort contributed to India establishing a substantial target of 434 runs for the UAE team.UAE’s response culminated in a total of 199 runs for 7 wickets in their designated 50 overs.

Their innings was distinguished by Uddish Suri’s undefeated 78 and Prithvi Madhu’s fifty. India U19 achieved a commanding victory by 234 runs.India U19 will compete against Pakistan U19 in a group stage match on Sunday.
