New Delhi: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced a total cash reward of Rs 7.5 crore for the Indian U19 Men’s Cricket World Cup-winning team, along with the technical staff and the selection committee. BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia confirmed the announcement  on Saturday.

India defeated England by 100 runs in the ICC Under-19 Men’s Cricket World Cup final at the Harare Sports Club, Harare, on Friday, claiming a record-extending sixth U19 World Cup title.

“A cash award of Rs 7.5 crore will be given to the Indian team, including players, technical staff, and the selection committee. The detailed break-up of the prize money will be announced soon, but the total reward stands at Rs 7.5 crore,” Saikia said.

BCCI to Announce Central Contracts for Senior Players Soon

The victory was powered by a sensational performance from 14-year-old Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who played a match-winning century. Captain Ayush Mhatre (53) and wicketkeeper Abhigyan Kundu (40) made crucial contributions as India posted a commanding 411/9. Although England started their chase well, a collapse in the middle order, despite a brilliant 115 by Caleb Falconer, saw India seal the win and lift their sixth U19 World Cup trophy.

With this triumph, India achieved a rare double, holding both the ICC Under-19 Men’s and Women’s World Cup titles simultaneously.

Saikia also confirmed that the BCCI will soon announce central contracts for senior men’s and women’s players, stating, “An official statement regarding the central contracts will be released very soon.”

Earlier, he congratulated the Indian youth team for their record-extending victory, highlighting the strength of India’s cricketing infrastructure. “This remarkable achievement reflects a robust system built on long-term player development, competitive domestic structures, quality coaching programs, dedicated technical staff, and effective talent identification. Age-group cricket remains a top priority, and the BCCI will continue investing in these foundations for the future. Well done, boys! The nation is immensely proud of you,” Saikia posted on X.
