January will see a significant religious alignment with the observance of two Shukra Pradosh Vrat, an auspicious fast dedicated to Lord Shiv and Goddess Lakshmi. This vrat is said to offer divine benefits for marital peace, prosperity, good health, dosha-free living, and spiritual development. Devotees practice Shukra Pradosh Vrat to achieve happiness, wealth, and overall well-being.

Shukra Pradosh Vrat will be observed in both the Krishna and Shukla Pakshas during the month of Magh. Below are the detailed dates and puja timings.

First Shukra Pradosh Vrat: January 16, 2026.

  • The Trayodashi Tithi of Magh Krishna Paksha begins on January 15 at 8:16 PM and ends on January 16 at 10:21 PM.
  • Pradosh Kaal Puja Timings: 5:21 PM to 8:00 PM

Second Shukra Pradosh Vrat: January 30, 2026.

  • The Trayodashi Tithi of Magh Shukla Paksha begins on January 30 at 11:09 AM and ends on January 31 at 8:25 AM.
  • Pradosh Kaal Puja Timings: 5:32 PM to 8:08 PM

Shukra Pradosh Vrat Puja Vidhi.

On the day of the vrat, devotees should rise early, bathe, and fast with devotion after making a vow and meditating on Lord Shiv. The primary pooja takes place at Pradosh Kaal in the evening.

During the rite, the Shivling is bathed in Ganga water, followed by an abhishek of curd, sugar, milk, and honey. Devotees gift Lord Shiv bel leaves, datura, fruits, and flowers. Following the offering of bhog, mantras are chanted, the Pradosh Vrat Katha is recited, and the puja culminates with aarti and prasad distribution.

Rules to Follow during Shukra Pradosh Vrat

Devotees observing the Shukra Pradosh Vrat are encouraged to maintain tight discipline. Avoid salt, non-vegetarian foods, and alcohol. Wearing black clothing is not recommended. Tulsi leaves, sindoor, turmeric, and broken rice are not appropriate offerings for the Shivling. Maintaining calm, avoiding wrath, refraining from lying, and avoiding negative thoughts are all regarded important throughout the vrat.
