The Shukra Pradosh Vrat 2026 is considered highly auspicious for devotees seeking prosperity, marital harmony, and fulfillment of long-cherished wishes. Observed in the sacred month of Magh, this Friday Pradosh fast is dedicated to Lord Shiva and Goddess Parvati. According to scriptures, however, worshipping Lord Shiva alone is not sufficient; paying respect to His principal ganas (attendants) is equally important, as neglecting them is believed to render the vrat incomplete.

Date and Importance

This year, Shukra Pradosh Vrat falls on 30 January 2026, corresponding to Magh Shukla Trayodashi. Pradosh Vrat is observed every month on the Trayodashi tithi of both lunar fortnights and is believed to neutralize negative karmic influences. Devotees believe that observing this vrat sincerely helps remove sins, bring inner peace, and ultimately guide one closer to liberation (moksha).

When Pradosh Vrat coincides with a Friday, it is considered especially powerful for career growth, business success, financial stability, and marital happiness.

During Pradosh Vrat, devotees are especially encouraged to worship Nandi and Vasuki Nag, the two principal ganas.

Nandi – Shiva’s Divine Messenger

Nandi, the revered vehicle and beloved gana of Lord Shiva, is believed to directly convey devotees’ wishes to Him. Worshipping Nandi brings peace, harmony, and stability to the household. Devotees often whisper their prayers into Nandi’s ears, feed cows or bulls, and offer prayers to the idol or image of Nandi in front of the Shivling for auspicious results.

Vasuki Nag – The Serpent of Protection

Vasuki Nag, the sacred serpent coiled around Shiva’s neck, symbolizes protection and cosmic balance. Devotees worship Vasuki Nag during  Shukra Pradosh Vrat to seek child blessings, prosperity, protection from misfortune, and relief from Kaal Sarp or Naga Dosha. Offerings and prayers are made to a serpent idol or the Nag carved on the Shivling.

Observing Shukra Pradosh Vrat

Most devotees observe the vrat from sunrise to sunset, breaking the fast after performing the evening Shiv puja. Some devotees undertake a 24-hour fast, worshipping throughout the night and concluding the vrat the following morning.

Observing Shukra Pradosh Vrat on a Friday is believed to invoke the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, enhancing wealth, professional success, and marital harmony.
