Apara Ekadashi 2026 is considered one of the most significant Ekadashi observances in Hindu tradition. Observed during the Krishna Paksha of the Jyeshtha month, the sacred day is associated with spiritual growth, devotion, and divine blessings. The word “Apara” is believed to symbolize limitless merits and blessings, which is why devotees observe the vrat with deep faith and dedication.

Apara Ekadashi 2026 will be observed on May 13. According to religious beliefs, the day is considered highly auspicious for worshipping Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi together. Many devotees believe that observing the fast and performing special rituals on Apara Ekadashi may help remove negativity, financial struggles, and the effects of past mistakes committed knowingly or unknowingly.

3 Remedies Believed to Improve Financial Stability on Apara Ekadashi 2026

1. Yellow Cowrie Shell Remedy

On the morning of Apara Ekadashi 2026  devotees offer five yellow cowrie shells at the feet of Lord Vishnu and Goddess Lakshmi during puja. After completing the worship, the shells are tied in a red silk cloth and kept inside a locker or cash box. According to traditional beliefs, this remedy is associated with attracting prosperity and financial stability.

2. Abhishek with Dakshinavarti Conch

To seek the blessings of Goddess Lakshmi, devotees fill a Dakshinavarti conch with milk mixed with saffron and use it for the abhishek of Lord Vishnu. Religious beliefs suggest that this ritual performed during Apara Ekadashi helps maintain abundance related to food, wealth, and prosperity in the household.

3. Turmeric and Saffron Tilak

Applying a tilak made of turmeric and saffron to Shri Hari is considered auspicious on Apara Ekadashi 2026. Devotees also draw a swastika symbol with turmeric near the main entrance of the house. Many people believe this ritual helps remove negative energy and brings positivity into the home.

5 Mistakes to Avoid During Tulsi Worship on Apara Ekadashi

1. Avoid Offering Water to Tulsi

According to religious beliefs, water should not be offered to the Tulsi plant on Ekadashi. It is believed that Goddess Tulsi observes a nirjala fast for Lord Vishnu on this sacred day, and offering water may interrupt the vrat.

2. Do Not Pluck Tulsi Leaves

Plucking Tulsi leaves on Apara Ekadashi is considered inauspicious in Hindu tradition. Devotees usually collect Tulsi leaves one day earlier on Dashami if they are required for bhog or worship.

3. Avoid Touching Tulsi in an Impure State

Many devotees avoid touching the Tulsi plant after sunset or without bathing. In the evening, devotees generally light a ghee diya near the plant and offer prayers from a distance.

4. Do Not Keep Dried Tulsi at Home

Keeping a completely dried Tulsi plant inside the house is believed to be associated with negative energy and bad luck. If the plant dries out, devotees respectfully immerse it in flowing water and plant a fresh Tulsi plant at home.

5. Avoid Tamasic Food

During Apara Ekadashi 2026 , many devotees avoid consuming non-vegetarian food, alcohol, onion, and garlic. According to traditional beliefs, such foods are considered unsuitable while observing the vrat and Tulsi worship.

Correct Tulsi Puja Method on Apara Ekadashi

On the evening of Apara Ekadashi 2026, devotees light a cow ghee diya near the Tulsi plant. While lighting the lamp, many chant the sacred mantra “Om Namo Bhagwate Vasudevaya”.

After this, devotees perform 11 or 21 parikramas around the Tulsi plant while praying peacefully. According to traditional beliefs, this ritual is associated with improving the financial condition of the household and bringing overall positivity and harmony into the home.
