PM Modi visits Somnath for Swabhiman Parv 2026, performing Omkar chanting, Shaurya Yatra, and temple rituals celebrating India’s heritage.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit b to participate in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv. On 10 January, about 8 p.m., the Prime Minister will engage in Omkar Mantra chanting before viewing a drone show at the Somnath temple.
On January 11, at approximately 9:45 a.m., the Prime Minister will participate in the Shaurya Yatra, a traditional parade organized to honour the many soldiers who gave their lives defending the Somnath Temple. The Shaurya Yatra would include a symbolic procession of 108 horses representing courage and sacrifice. At roughly 10:15 a.m., the Prime Minister will perform Darshan and Pooja at the Somnath Temple. Around 11 a.m., the Prime Minister will attend and address a public function in Somnath.
The Somnath Swabhiman Parv will be place from January 8 to 11, 2026, at Somnath. It is being organized to commemorate the many Indian citizens whose sacrifice in defending the Temple continues to inspire future generations’ cultural consciousness.

The event commemorates 1,000 years since Mahmud of Ghazni’s conquest of the Somnath Temple in 1026. Despite several attempts to destroy it over centuries, the Somnath Temple persists today as a powerful symbol of tenacity, faith, and national pride, thanks to the community’s determination and efforts to restore it to its historic beauty.
Sardar Patel spearheaded the campaign to restore the Temple following independence. One of the most significant milestones in this recovery journey occurred in 1951, when the repaired Somnath Temple was officially opened to pilgrims in the presence of India’s then-President, Dr. Rajendra Prasad. The Somnath Swabhiman Parv will take on further significance as 75 years of historic restoration are completed in 2026.
Hundreds of saints from throughout the country will attend the celebrations, which will include 72 hours of continuous singing of ‘Om’ on the temple grounds.
The Prime Minister’s participation in the Somnath Swabhiman Parv demonstrates the everlasting spirit of Indian civilization and confirms his commitment to preserving and celebrating India’s rich cultural and spiritual legacy.
